OFTEC Registered – But What About HETAS
“Are you HETAS registered?” is a question we’re often asked.
While OFTEC is well known for its work within the oil-heating industry, it also operates an authorised Competent Person Scheme for solid-fuel appliances, including wood-burning stoves and open fires.
As an OFTEC registered solid-fuel installer, we have the appropriate training and assessment to install solid-fuel appliances in accordance with Building Regulations and manufacturers’ instructions. We can also self-certify qualifying installations, providing the appropriate compliance documentation.
HETAS is another authorised Competent Person Scheme for solid-fuel installations. OFTEC and HETAS are different registration schemes, but both can provide competent-person certification for qualifying solid-fuel work.
So, no — you don’t have to be HETAS registered. OFTEC registration covers solid-fuel installations too.
